Protect Thembang fortified village to woo tourists: Sidisow to villagers

THEMBANG | Apr 20 | The three-day maiden Thembang Heritage Festival concluded in this village, enlisted as World Heritage Site  by the UNESCO, here today.

In his address to the closing ceremony, PHED, WS and Economics Parliamentary Secretary Kumsi Sidisow and former minister D K Thongdok, addressing as chief guest and guest of honour, recalled the historic relevance of the fortified Dzong built by using traditional technology of the region. Due to the richness of heritage structures found in the village, settlement of the Monpas, measuring approximately 3.2 acre, located approximately 55-km northeast of West Kameng district HQsBomdila.

Arunachal Pradesh  boasts of two such sites, including Zero Valley, they said, and exhorted he villagers to make all possible efforts to protect and preserve to attract tourists and researchers from within and outside the state.

The event, organised at the initiative of Thembang ZPM Jam Tsering Dirkhipa and Lama Tsering Khochilu, in collaboration with research department and supported by tourism department and Health & Family Welfare Parliamentary Secretary-cum-Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering with Arunachal Observer as media partner, the organizing committee’s coordinator SSB DIG & Talungdzong Aka Raja were present, among huge gathering,   Traditional sports and cultural by  Bhutan team and Kalaktang troupe added beauty to the event.
